The siblings Kiya and Ziya Tabassian of Persian origin are researching and interpreting the musical traditions of the East.
Illuminating East and West, the band was established in 1998 in Montreal as a forum for the crossroad of traditions. During the last decade, the group has performed 35 new concerts in about 120 cities in 22 countries.
The virtuoso musicians of sitar and tombak collaborate with great instrument players from all over the world, like the virtuoso oud musician and composer Kyriako Kalaitzides from Salonica, Greece.

Our voyage is guided by the magic of music as we travel through time from the sounds of an ancient Greek tombstone inscription, to the devout byzantine hymns.
The stream of time brings us to the West, into the experimentation of renaissance music, the flourishing baroque sound, the genius symmetry of classical music, the passion and ideologies of the romantic period to culminate with 20th century music. And yet, the journey has not reached its end. Modern times brings to the forth sounds of jazz for everyone’s pleasure. Finally, a light breeze carries us back to the starting point, the traditional Greek and Cypriot songs.
