Directed by Emmanuel Courcol, this French production was an official selection at Cannes Film Festival in 2020 and won the Best European Comedy Award by the European Film Academy. Etienne, runs a theatre workshop in a prison, where he brings together an unlikely troupe of prisoners to stage Samuel Beckett’s play Waiting for Godot. When he is allowed to take the colourful band of convicts on tour, Etienne finally has the chance to thrive. This profoundly humane and heartfelt comedy, inspired by true events, features Cesar-winning actor Kad Merad.

Donya works for a Chinese fortune cookie factory. Formerly a translator for the U.S. military in Afghanistan, she struggles to put her life back in order. In a moment of sudden revelation, she decides to send out a special message in a cookie.

Yorgos Goussis film won six awards at Thessaloniki IFF, including the Golden Alexander Award, as well as five IRIS – Greek Film Academy Awards. While travelling alone to an unknown destination, Elena unexpectedly finds herself on a ferry to Cephalonia. There, she will share her thoughts and burdens with Antonis, a man she randomly meets on board. The two of them decide to wander around the island in search of a good place to bury Antonis’ metal box.

Stantar Kkomety Festival
Stantar Kkomety returns for the second consecutive year with a three-day comedy festival, filling the Heroes’ Square and Rialto Theatre with laughter and entertainment. Following last year’s first successful festival, this 2nd edition brings to the stage upgraded shows featuring internationally renowned English-speaking comedians. At the same time, the festival preserves its traditional character by presenting an array of shows by Cypriot talented stand-up comics.
Stand-up comedy in English, comedy for kids comedy battles, raw comedy, music, and food will bring a fresh perspective and guarantee an entertaining experience (see detailed programme).

The pianist Manolis Neophytou presents A Night of Cinematic Music, featuring music from the films The Kid, Modern Times, Amelie, Scent of a woman, La dolce vita, Amarcord, A Touch of Spice, The Beekeeper, Schindler’s List, Photography 51, My Affectionate and Gentle Beast, Eternity and a Day, Erotic Symphony, with a parallel projection of extracts from these films.

Another Country Ι Alpha Square I Flash Art
Another Country by Julian Mitchell is a theatrical play that won the Society of West End Theatre Awards ‘Play of the Year’ title in 1982.
Directed and translated by Andreas Araouzos, the play features ten Cypriot artists introducing the audience to a 1930s English private boarding school exploring the camaraderie and operation of the educational system through a staged reading.

Romeo et Juliette Ι The Met: Live in HD
Two singers at the height of their powers—soprano Nadine Sierra and tenor Benjamin Bernheim—come together as the star-crossed lovers in Gounod’s Shakespeare adaptation, with Yannick Nézet-Séguin on the podium to conduct one of the repertoire’s most romantic scores. Bartlett Sher’s staging also features baritone Will Liverman and tenor Frederick Ballentine as the archrivals Mercutio and Tybalt, mezzo-soprano Samantha Hankey as the mischievous pageboy Stéphano, and bass-baritone Alfred Walker as Frère Laurent.

3rd Cyprus Choreography Showcase (SXK)
The Department of Contemporary Culture of the Deputy Ministry of Culture of Cyprus, in collaboration with the Rialto Theatre, organises the 3rd Cyprus Choreography Showcase 2024.
The Cyprus Choreography Showcase (SXK) is an institutional event that aims at presenting selected choreographic pieces, conceived and created in Cyprus over the past two years. Specifically, the SXK offers an opportunity to Cyprus-based choreographers to show their works, within an organised context, to artistic directors and international contemporary dance festival representatives who are invited to attend the SXK for this specific purpose. At the same time, the SXK offers the chance to the local audience to re-watch some of the most memorable choreographic productions.
The Selection Committee of the 3rd Cyprus Choreography Showcase 2024 consisted of Dara Milovanovic, Yiorgos Savvinidis, Mariza Bargilly, Natasa Georgiou, Froso Hadjigeorgiou.

PARALLEL EVENTS
The parallel events of the Cyprus Choreography Showcase under the title Meanwhile are organized by Dance House Lemesos, Dance House Lefkosia, and Nea Kinisi in collaboration with Rialto Theatre and the Department of Contemporary Culture of the Deputy Ministry of Culture.
The organization aims to present works intended for alternative presentation spaces, curate parallel events, and support alternative forms of choreographic creation.
This year's program includes works created within the context of personal initiatives, residency programs, and independent festivals and is enriched with a moderated discussion concerning the "relevance" of Cypriot choreographic creation and its position in contemporary European reality.
The selection of works was made through an open call.
